Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby

Aarhus University Hospital Skejby has implemented Cetrea Surgical on Department of Cardiology. The implementation was completed in 3 months with go-live on May 5th, 2009. The implementation is a significant milestone for Cetrea as this implementation is the first implementation of Cetrea Surgical since the completion of the development at the Region Hospital of Horsens. It is therefore with great satisfaction that the implementation has been completed according to plans and proven that Cetrea Surgical can be implemented in 3 month.

“The implementation process has lived up to our expectations”, says Medical Doctor Claus Brøckner Nielsen in charge of Department of Cardiology shortly after go-live and continues, “It has been surprisingly easy for the clinicians to start using the system. We are used to spending days of training of the clinicians, but with Cetrea Surgical this has not been necessary at all. The system is just so intuitive and all clinicians have used the system with success - even those that can be a bit worried about taking new IT systems into use”. Before the go-live Department of Cardiology completed a pre-study of selected Key Performance Indicators which will be evaluated in due time after the system has been used, but Claus Brøckner Nielsen says; “Already on day 2 all the patient wards could tell that the number of disturbing phone calls had been reduced, which indicates an immediate effect of taking the system in use.”

Cetrea Surgcial has been implemented in 7 operation theatres, in the coordination center, on all connected patient wards and ambulatories as well as in the porter central. Department of Cardiology handles both elective and acute patients across the Region of Central Denmark.

After 3 month of using Cetrea Surgical, Department of Cardiology has complete the first small evaluation of the system with remarkable results including a significant reduction of disturbing phone calls as well as significant reduction in the clinicians number of steps during a day. At the same time the clinicians express great satisfaction with both the system as well as the implementation project.
